This week marks the fifthteen anniversary of the death of Kurt Cobain from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His absence from popular music is palpable. With today's airwaves populated with glamazon divas, thug-fabulous-CEO-Rappers, and The Jonas Brothers, I'd prefer to listen to any track on Nirvana's Nevermind or In Utero any day of the week. Cobain had the gift of being able to communicate pain, loneliness, boredom, mischief to anyone with a pulse. It may be cliche to say but he was truly a voice of for a generation - a voice that will always have a place in my playlist.
