This female power rock trio from Japan has the sonic power to make all within listening distance bow in reverence. Shonen Knife plays cool yet raw like (um) sushi. However, these women can also rock with a ferocity so strong that the late Kurt Cobain has been quoted as saying that while watching Shonen Knife in concert, he "screamed like a hysterical nine-year-old girl at a Beatles concert." In fact, Shonen Knife opened for Nirvana during the UK stretch of their tour. Almost three decades after the release of their first album, this Shonen Knife still cuts pretty sharp.
